İstanbul’un Mezarları Tasarım Yarışması – Orhan Kemal Mezarı proposal was inspired by the autobiographical qualities and everyday realism found in the author’s literary works. The design interprets each of Orhan Kemal’s stories as an individual column, together forming a collective memorial that reflects both personal narratives and shared human experiences.

The layout emphasizes rhythm, repetition, and variation: vertical elements in different heights and tones symbolize the diversity of his works and the voices of ordinary people he represented. Constructed with simple materials such as aluminum profiles, concrete, and subtle plantings, the design avoids monumental excess, instead creating a poetic and democratic environment that reflects Orhan Kemal’s modest yet enduring contribution to Turkish literature.
